God’s work. Our hands. Sunday Plans

Just a reminder that God’s work. Our Hands. Sunday is September 11th. This year we have two activities scheduled as of now.
 
First, we will be gathering a group to go to Crestview Nursing Center and do a hymn sing at 11:00 a.m. Our organist Seth will be sticking around to accompany the group that is going. Look for more information on that to come.
 
Second, we will be hosting a car wash at Bethany from 11:oo a.m. – 1:00 p.m. This car wash is free of charge; however, if folks do want to give a cash donation they will go to the Weekend Hunger Program at Hoover Elementary school. We will provide some light refreshments for those who come while they wait for their car to be washed.

Lutheran Campus Ministry Open House

We are invited to attend an open house for Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Iowa on Sunday, August 21 from noon – 3:00 p.m.  Christus House is located just west of Gloria Dei Lutheran at 123 Market St.  They will be grilling hot dogs and brats and the Christus House will be open for tours.  Bring a lawn chair and listen to some live bluegrass on the lawn.

New App from Augsburg Fortress

Augsburg Fortress, the publishing house of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, recently introduced their first mobile app featuring Luther’s Small Catechism.  This short resource is Luther’s guide to the basics of the Christian faith.  This app can be downloaded for free via the Apple IOS App Store and on Google Play.  Simply search “Catechism” and then look for the one by Augsburg Fortress.

Adult Bible School Opportunity at Zion Lutheran Iowa City

Bethany members have been invited to attend the 8th Annual Adult Vacation Bible School at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City, August 1-5.  This course will meet daily from 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.  This year’s theme is “Fresh Perspectives from the Reformation” and will the keynote presenter will be Rev. Dr. Kathryn Kleinhans, professor at Wartburg College. Please see brochure below for more information.
