Following the snowstorm last winter when Bethany housed 40+ stranded motorists, a small team has felt called to look into this further and how God might use us in future emergency situations to reach out with the love of Christ and come alongside our neighbors in need. With the approval and support of the Council, steps are being undertaken to partner with Cedar County Emergency Management in being a 24-48 hour emergency shelter. There are many things to take into consideration and the team is meeting regularly to put policies and procedures in place.
We will need several volunteers to come alongside as we form an Emergency Response Team. We are even considering ways we might partner with others in our community. In the meantime, we wanted to make this known to each of you and if you are interested in learning more and becoming a volunteer in the event an emergency situation happens that Cedar County does need to utilize our space please contact Pastor Chad ([email protected]) who will forward this onto the planning team.
