Outdoor Worship and Pet Blessing

This Sunday, September 24, is our annual outdoor worship with a pet blessing.  Here are some notes on the service.

  • Please bring a lawn chair if possible; however, we will have some folding chairs set up outside
  • In case of inclement weather (i.e., precipitation of any kind no matter how light it may be or extreme cold temperatures) we will move inside. Please leave your pets at home. An email will be sent out that morning and also notice placed on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
  • Pets: Due to liability reasons and suggestions from our insurance carrier the Council asks that all please adhere to the following:
    • All pets must remain leashed or caged (if smaller animals) at all times.
    • Use caution and common sense when considering whether to bring your pet. If your pet doesn’t socialize well around other animals then it may be best to leave him or her at home that day. The safety of all people and other pets is vital.
    • Do not bring your pet if it is in heat.
    • Pets must remain outside at all times.

God’s Work. Our Hands. Sunday

This Sunday, September 10, you are invited to wear your yellow “God’s Work. Our Hands.” shirts if you have them.  The following projects are planned this year.

  • Set up Great Hall for Ugandan Thunder concert Monday night. This will follow fellowship.
  • Assist quilters in making quilts that provide comfort to many people.
  • Yard work around the West Branch Public Library (small group of people needed). Supplies will be provided by Jamie Zimmerman.  Simply come with your work gloves.  An extra truck would be helpful for removal of yard waste.
  • Yard work around the church grounds. Bring work gloves and items such as a rake, trimmers, shovel, pruning shears, etc.
  • Hymn sing at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation at 11:00 a.m. Arrive a few minutes early to gather in the entry way. No singing experience required.  Just show up and have fun.  We will sing several hymns and be done by 11:30 a.m.

Yesterday, we stood hand-in-hand as prayers were lifted up in worship for all in Texas and other Gulf Coast areas experiencing torrential rains, flooding, and other damage from Hurricane Harvey. This Sunday, September 3, we will take a special offering during worship to be directed to Lutheran Disaster Response. If you can’t attend and want to donate you can send in a check or you can give directly by clicking here to be directed to Lutheran Disaster Response’s website.
