New App from Augsburg Fortress

Augsburg Fortress, the publishing house of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, recently introduced their first mobile app featuring Luther’s Small Catechism.  This short resource is Luther’s guide to the basics of the Christian faith.  This app can be downloaded for free via the Apple IOS App Store and on Google Play.  Simply search “Catechism” and then look for the one by Augsburg Fortress.

Adult Bible School Opportunity at Zion Lutheran Iowa City

Bethany members have been invited to attend the 8th Annual Adult Vacation Bible School at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City, August 1-5.  This course will meet daily from 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.  This year’s theme is “Fresh Perspectives from the Reformation” and will the keynote presenter will be Rev. Dr. Kathryn Kleinhans, professor at Wartburg College. Please see brochure below for more information.

Bishop Statement on Orlando Shootings

In the wake of the horrific and awful tragedy in Orlando yesterday we pray.  We pray for all.  We pray for peace.  We pray for healing.  We pray for those who died.  We pray for those injured.  We pray for those who mourn.  We pray for those filled with hatred.  We pray for the family of the shooter.  We pray for the law enforcement officers, medical personnel, and all who tend to the care of all people affected.  We pray that all people are seen as created in God’s image and equal in God’s eyes. We pray for God’s presence.  We pray for God’s mercy and compassion.  We pray…

“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday is Coming

Join us September 11th as once again we join with thousands of ELCA congregations in responding to God’s amazing love and grace in service to our neighbor.  This annual Sunday is called “God’s work. Our hands.”  This is always a fun and enjoyable day for all ages.  Look for more information to come.

We will once again wear our gold shirts and if you need another one or have never ordered one there are order forms below.  Please fill them out and return to Paula or Pastor and an order will be place once we have enough.  Deadline to order is August 7.  Please make checks payable to Bethany Lutheran Church.  Thanks!
