Free Meal this Sunday, February 23rd at Bethany – All are invited to attend and that means everyone in the West Branch Community (not just Bethany members) who want a meal or a chance to go meet some new people in their community. Plan to join Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI), Pastor Chad and other Lutherans from around Iowa on Monday, March 10 for Lutheran Day on the Hill as we help give voice to Iowa’s Children and Families.
We will learn about advocacy, hear from special guest speakers and have the opportunity to talk to your legislators about critical issues facing children, families and adults. We will also have the opportunity to meet briefly with Governor Branstad and Lt. Gov. Reynolds.
There is no cost to attend. A bus will leave early (probably around 7:00 a.m.) in Iowa City. Participants will also receive a T-Shirt and sack lunch free. If you want additional information or register please go to LSI’s website here.
The most recent list of needs at the West Branch Food Pantry is listed below. Thank you all for supporting this ministry and meeting the needs of the hungry in our community.
During Lent all are invited to attend a six-week study on the book Unbinding Your Heart by Martha Grace Reece (Chalice Press, 2008). Â Please see the flier below for additional information.
Please consider attending Called Together in Mission on Saturday, March 8th from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This event will be held at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and cost is $20 (Bethany has traditionally covered this expense in the past).
The theme this year is “Everyday Evangelists: Deepen your faith. Share your story.” For more information click here to be redirected to the Southeastern Iowa Synod website. If you are interested in attending please let Paula know by February 15th. Thanks!
The Annual Reports are being printed as I type and will be ready to pick up if you desire a copy prior to the Annual Meeting this coming Sunday, January 19. They will be sitting on a stool in the entryway just outside the doors to the office. Otherwise, they will be available on Sunday prior to the meeting.
Plan to join us Sunday, January 26th for a Free meal.  All are invited to attend whether Bethany members or not.  This will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the meal being provided until 6:30 p.m. or we run out of food.  This will also be a time to fellowship with one another and if so inclined bring a game or a deck of cards and hang out.  See also the flier below.
